The Style Decoded

The White Shoe

In Belgium there's an expression which literally translates to 'trying to get a white foot', its meaning translates into an attempt to get in someone's good graces. While the saying has nothing to do with the actual footwear that was spotted on every corner during Fashion Month, a pair of new, white shoes is definitely favourable in our AW17 wardrobe.

High-rise white

While you possibly couldn't have pictured it a couple of years ago, the white heeled shoe has gone back to being the epitome of elegance. White pumps, mules or heeled sandals strive under a pair of cropped trousers, gracefully showing off the ankle and despite their lack of colour, they add a pop of fresh vibrancy to every colourful or neutral look.

For walking

The fashion world probably hasn't been this thrilled about white boots since the sixties when André Courrèges introduced his iconic white 'go-go boots'. High or low, kitten or chunky heels, seventies-inspired or with an architectural feel: white works, regardless of your style choice. If anything, a new pair of white boots gives you all the more reason to pull out that all-black-everything-outfit and create a powerful contrast. One concern to take into account before slipping into these every single morning is how you'll keep them clean until they've gone out of style, which could be a while.

Flat white

As essential as your morning coffee, a pair of pristine and trusted white sneakers is sure to put a spring in your autumn/winter 2017 step. In case these sportswear-inspired lace-ups are no longer your cup of tea, a sophisticated white loafer or edgy platform version might take the spotlight in your daily outfit or work as a blank canvas to let other items do the talking. Whatever you do, work your whites with confidence and a pinch of sophisticated fun.
