Seventies Leather

Sultry Seventies looks are a fashion mainstay, regardless of the season or the fashion pack’s mood. This AW 17 season is no different, with tomboyish brown leather dresses and retro patterned jumpers combining to make for silhouettes that are boldly bohemian yet timeless in their cozy confidence.

Boho 2.0

When our minds drift off to the distant Seventies – that careless era that profited from both the Sixties’ free love mentality and the growing power dressing aesthetic of the Eighties – we can’t help but gravitate towards loose fits and earthy colours in our wardrobe choices. Chloé, during the Karl Lagerfeld years, perfectly encapsulated this look, and Claire Waight Keller’s final collection for the French fashion house was an ode to that laid-back but girly, tough but sweet style so reverential to fashion icons like Jane Birkin and Bianca Jagger: leather dresses and coats in brown and deep burgundy throwing us back to those hippie days. Plaids or otherwise patterned woollen shirts and jumpers add texture and warmth to such pieces, while sturdy brown boots with block heels provide the down-to-earth grounding that brings us back to the 21st century.
