The Mood

The Best Of Resort 2018

It's been months since designers presented their resort 2018 collections to the masses, but now that cold winter days are darkening our moods, it's up to autumn/winter 2017's sales to lift our spirits and the new season arrivals to warm our hearts. Since resort 2018 has the honour of opening the gates for all of spring/summer 2018's wonders, we decided to round up the season's three longstanding styles that already are indispensable for your wardrobe.

All-white is all right

Since resort or cruise collections were officially brought to life by the fashion industry for those travelling to warmer climates during the post-Christmas weeks, it's not that surprising that designers embrace white as the go-to colour for these mid-season collections. With the ability to function as a refreshing staple that can be combined with all of your current fashion choices, white is probably the most accessible hue in your closet. Aside from its multitude of styling options, white can be just as pure and powerful in head-to-toe looks. From casual and practical at Hermès to modern cool girls at Prada and the ultimate holiday vibes at Chanel and Dior, there's nothing chicer than clean whites.

Wallflowers

Florals are all around year-round lately, but still, designers manage to surprise us with their seasonal interpretations of the well-scented print. While autumn/winter 2017 bouquets were presented on dark backgrounds for a dark and gloomy vibe, resort 2018 takes its cues from your grandmother's wallpaper. Designers including Gucci's Alessandro Michele are reimagining the outdated and somewhat naive floral prints into covetable fabrics that work best with a 'more is more' kind of approach. Follow Maria Grazia Chiuri's lead by layering see-through florals over existing dresses, opt for Prada's pyjama-style two-pieces or literally slide into the season by pairing a comfortable slip-on shoe with a romantic, fluid dress as witnessed at Valentino. No need to water these colourful flowers, they'll bloom for seasons to come.

Sunny disposition

In case a relaxing holiday to a warm and faraway place isn't on the agenda, resort 2018 will still manage to brighten up your day. Citrus-inspired hues are probably the biggest colours of the season, adding some much-needed vitamin C and D to your daily style. Orange, yellow, peach and tangerine are worn as monochrome silhouettes or combined with other happy hues and popped up in collections from Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu and many more. Be sure to make a bold impact this season and add some sunshine to your wardrobe.
