About the Designer

American designer Thom Browne came to New York in 1997. After gaining design experience at Ralph Lauren and Club Monaco, he started his label in 2001 with a small shop before launching his ready-to-wear label for men in 2003. His first women’s ready-to-wear full-line collection launched in 2011. Taking traditional tailoring to an innovating new level, he meticulously implements preppy details such as sequins, unique prints, mixed textured fabrics and overall deconstruction into classic tailored cuts. Multiple awarded ‘Menswear Designer of the Year’ by the CFDA, Browne has garnered worldwide recognition in the fashion scene.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Browne’s value of creating impeccably tailored clothes translates once again in his ready-to-wear 2017 collection where his goal was to give prominence to each garment. Trompe l’oeil tailoring on tuxedo-inspired looks feature a sequined tweed-look coat and black-white suit-inspired silhouettes. The penguin mascot brings a playful, edgy detail throughout the collection appearing on embroidered jackets, trousers and handbag shapes. Tailored deconstructed grey tartan suits were styled with red-blue striped socks and tri-colour grosgrain trim. The multicoloured coats and sumptuously layering brightened the overall grey, black and white hues of the collection. The mixed fabrics were ranging from shredded organza frill to mixed fur fabrics and trimmed treating each piece as a work of art.
