About the designer

British designer Stella McCartney is the daughter of famous musician Paul McCartney. In 1997, two years after getting her degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, Stella McCartney was appointed as creative director of Chloé. Later, she launched her namesake fashion label, showing her first collection in Paris in 2001. McCartney is known to be an animal rights activist and therefore does not use any leather or fur in her collections. Her designs are simple, feminine and most of all easily wearable.

Collection spring/summer 2018

If you would describe Stella McCartney’s SS18 collection with one single word, it would have to be ‘volume’. Models were dressed in open-worked sheer dresses, jumpsuits accented with smocked detailing and subtle leopard patterns. Oversized blazer jackets and dresses were gathered at the waist and trousers at the hem, adding to the voluminous quality of the silhouettes. Vintage acid washed denim ensembles emanated a vibrant Eighties vibe. The streetwear jersey T-shirts were styled with taffeta maxi skirts. The multi-coloured theme popped with bright African prints on blouses and dresses. The taffeta evening looks in the finale were defined by even more ruffles, puff sleeves and gathering whereas the ‘alter-Nappa’ body top and relaxed trousers are testament to McCartney’s animal-friendly state of mind.
