About the designer

Los Angeles-based brand Simon Miller was founded in 2008 by Daniel Corrigan. Initially only a men’s denim brand, the label expanded to a full lifestyle brand in 2014, when Corrigan acquired the skilful eye of Chelsea Hansford, who previously worked at Opening Ceremony. The label is celebrated for fusing a modern aesthetic with Japanese sartorial techniques.

A laid-back allure is highlighted by Simon Miller’s denim, which elevates mere wardrobe staples to sculptural ready-to-wear. Textural materials are transformed by elaborate Japanese dyeing techniques, as the brand’s natural and lived-in indigo wash is hand-dyed in Los Angeles. Besides denim, the label is celebrated for its contemporary and minimalistic handbags. Their coveted Bonsai bag, a classic bucket style, headed a stylistic craze, pleasing those on the lookout for high-quality tanned leather at a more-than-acceptable price point.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Creative directors Daniel Corrigan and Chelsea Hansford transformed the runway into a flower shop, plastic buckets included. The colours of those florals represented the brand's colour palette for AW17, featuring mustard yellow and dusty red where the navy and royal blue hues allowed for a contrasting feel. Leather bombers and a beautiful leather trench coat layered turtleneck knit sweaters and mini-check patterned skirts and trousers. Ruffled hems at knee-length skirts and satin slip dresses lend a more feminine feel to the collection. Patent leather boots styled with knitted dresses merged at an elegant knee length where blue denim trousers and a raw edge skirt abided by the label’s contemporary aesthetic facing the ever-moving tendencies of the industry.
