About the designer

Sies Marjan debuted its first collection during New York Fashion week in February 2016. Making an entrance in the high fashion industry, creative director Sander Lak has already been hailed as a new wind in the industry thanks to the air of novelty of his collections breathe. Lak has previously worked as the creative head designer for Belgian designer Dries Van Noten. A true advocate of colour, neon yellow, magenta or lilac are no mystery to the designer. His consistent use of bold colours questions the traditional conventions of the fashion seasons.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Creative director Sander Lak’s vivid colour palette did not disappoint for the label’s AW17 presentation. Tonal pastel silhouettes in dusty pink, coral orange, mint green or salmon were interspersed by electric blue, deep purple and fuchsia pink hues. Asymmetric, draped skirts and dresses with dramatic high-low hems created an effortless yet elegant allure. The label’s signature knot twist effect reinforced the draping silhouettes where the zippers created a gathered effect allowing a slightly sporty feel. A textured metallic lame coat and a biker jacket in electric pink layered neutral looks for an exquisite highlight. Flowing satin skirts styled with cable knits or metallic kick flare trousers combined with fuzzy knits illustrated the interesting merge of fabrics and the exceptionally dapper use of colours.
