About the designer

Japanese creative designer, Chitose Abe, worked for Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe several years before founding her own label Sacai in 1999. The birth of her daughter drove Abe to create experimental yet effortless wearable designs favoured by a wide range of various types of women. The fabrics are almost entirely created from scratch resulting in a unique aesthetic. Abe’s designs are the epitome of deconstruction, fusing different pieces into one intriguing silhouette and translating them into feminine yet sophisticated looks.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Abiding by the label’s expert layering and deconstructive design skills, this autumn/winter collection wasn't any different. Combining various garments featuring nightwear and puffer down jackets, the collection held numerous sorts of fabrics and styles. Flower embroidered pyjamas were paired with combined down and fur jackets and destructed by zippers, the latter making an appearance on almost every look. Tweed jackets were given a spin by being implemented into sports-inspired parka jackets, often paired with similar tweed trousers, creating a new silhouette. Denim looks consisting of midi skirts and oversized jackets were alternated with reformed check plaid dresses. As for highlights, the varying collection featured boxy-combined shearling jackets, a classic double-breasted coat layered on a khaki nylon bomber jacket and infinite layers.
