About the designer

During a career of 19 years at Ralph Lauren, Chris Leba started R13 as a creative outlet of his personal vision of fashion in 2009. At the time, he worked for both Ralph Lauren and R13 at the same time. During that period, the creative designer of R13 chose to be anonymous. It was not until he resigned from Ralph Lauren and fully focused on his own brand that he felt like he could lift his collections to another level. The idea of launching his own brand arose during a road trip through Italy when he found a manufacturer who could emerge his design ideas. Chris Leba focuses on his honest thoughts on fashion rather than answering to a customer's demand.

Collection spring/summer 2018

R13’s creative director Chris Leba abided by his edgy, punk rock aesthetic to create the label's SS18 collection. The presentation showcased a sophisticated mix of biker chic, Western, floral and plaid, often used in one single silhouette featuring a tough biker T-Shirt worn on top of a romantic floral blouse paired with a plaid skirt and cowboy boots - and let’s not forget the commercial trucker caps. Kitchen aprons were styled diagonally on top of one another and also came in a black patent leather and silver metallic version. Leopard prints joined the pattern party clash whereas deconstructed denim looks closed the intriguing line-up. The Western-inspired elements were shown as bandana scarves, rodeo belts and cowboy boots, allowing for an all-over American vibe.
