Collection spring/summer 2018
Under the joyful direction of Sophie Mechaly, Paul and Joe’s SS18 collection exuded the fresh and vibrant spirit that the label is known and loved for. This season, the runway show opened in a more minimalist way than you’d expect from Paul & Joe, with soft pastel shades being the only pop of colour punctuating white silhouettes. The serene styles featured summer-ready tops: think bat sleeves, palm trees and perfect peplums. However, it wasn’t long before the brand’s signature shades came out to play. Lively hues left us longing for the Caribbean, while Las Vegas-themed intarsia transported us straight to The Strip. A short and slightly boxy dress featured a graphic vintage print, complete with palm trees, flowers and all things summer. Daywear merged with sleepwear, as pyjama-styles proved to be the new epitome of comfort when it comes to daytime dressing. Earthy tones – brown, green and one of the most striking shades of orange that ever donned the runway – heartened the final looks of the show. A tough flower-printed black biker jacket was paired with a dreamy off-white floral maxi dress, getting us excited to do some springtime layering of our own.
