About the designer

Established in 1846 in Madrid, Spain, Loewe was one of the first luxury fashion houses starting out with an artisanal leather collection. The brand immediately knew an international expansion due to their excellent craftsmanship and elegant collections. In 1986, the first ready-to-wear collection for men was launched followed by a womenswear line ten years later signed by Narciso Rodriguez. Favoured designer Jonathan Anderson was appointed as creative director and has now been at the helm since 2013. Anderson allows a dynamic aesthetic while maintaining the house’s 170-year-old heritage and added the ‘Puzzle’, a new add-on to Loewe’s coveted iconic ‘Amazona’ and ‘Flamenco’ handbags.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Celebrated designer Jonathan Anderson opted for a pitch dark setting to present Loewe’s AW collection. Silhouettes defined by an astonishing range of fabrics revealed an exceptional presentation, yet Anderson pulled it off to not let it end in chaos. The looks were characterised by elongated dresses and skirts patterned in multicoloured plaid, bold stripes and different polka dot shapes. The same polka dot print was featured on a bell-sleeved coat accentuated by an enlarged bow collar and paired with black leather riding boots. Classic intarsia knit sweaters were styled with flowing skirts and trousers where ankle grazing coats in wool camel and brown fur lend the perfect layering. Sleek leather looks translated in a pale-yellow peplum jacket and heavily pleated handkerchief skirt. Each sumptuous silhouette was styled with the label’s signature handbags featuring leather bucket bags, totes and felted pouches.
