When Christian Restoin founded Equipment in 1976 his aim was to translate classic menswear shirts into elegant womenswear staples. In 2010 Serge Azria started with the brand’s revival, injecting it with an androgynous edge and introducing the brand’s signature soft silk fabrics.

About the designer


Officially established in 1976, Equipment was – and still is – the go-to brand for elegant and slightly androgynous shirts, characterised by refined tailoring and a timeless look. The head of Equipment Christian Restoin, long-time partner of former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris Carine Roitfeld, was known for his sophisticated yet simple designs. In 2010 Serge Azria, brother of BCBG's Max Azria, took over the helm and relaunched the brand. He felt like it was his duty to revive the iconic Equipment brand and give a contemporary spin to its signature pieces. Azria describes the brand's aesthetics as 'Chic, timeless, minimalistic and essential'.

Collection autumn/winter 2017

Staying true to its tradition, the modern Equipment awakens the timeless, minimalistic undertones of its distinguished predecessor. Autumn/winter 2017 fuses whimsical blooms and bamboo-inspired silhouettes and the house's ever iconic striped shirts. As the collection exudes a discreet hint of allure, glossy silk, lush satin and an infusion of unexpected details complement many characters of the house’s devotee.
